I was looking up the derivation of Grosvenor which is very commonly used as a street or place name in England, and seems to have been particularly popular with social-climbing Victorians. I live in Manchester not far from Daresbury, Carroll's Cheshire birthplace, and I've never come across this particular Cheshire Cat theory before but it seems extremely plausible.
